In Vietnam, I became inspired by the most prominent mode of transportation, the motor scooter, and the culture that accompanies it. This mode of transportation serves as the vehicle for everyone, from families to lone riders, in the crowded streets of Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon).
When leaving Vietnam for the first time, I realized that I had to return for a second trip to continue documenting the scooters and their passengers. On my second trip, I wanted to immerse myself further into the culture, and what better way to do so than to ride on the back of one myself? Wedged behind a carefree driver, and surrounded by couples, families, and individuals so close in the lanes we could touch, I became inspired by the continuous chaos and the thrill of navigating the complex twisted city streets…and Moto Saigon was born.
