In 2004, I took a trip to Hawaii to visit friends in Maui.

While there, I was intrigued by Hana, the most isolated community on the island. To reach this small village that has been virtually untouched by development, one must traverse the Hana Highway, a long winding road along Maui’s northern shore. And so began my Road to Hana, seeking Cheehoo Hān—a Bohemian Escape.
